Small ornate copper framed Ambrotype (1860s)
Within a leather finished hard case
(75x63mm)
An ambrotype is a photographic process on glass introduced in the early 1850s.
The photographs don’t flatter this one. It’s a really nice example and well preserved, although over time the case has split and the top half of the case is missing.
The names we have given to the ambrotypes are nicknames for identification purposes.
