Austin Osman Spare - ‘Stealing the Fire from Heaven' 1917

£470.00

Large Picture (frame measures approximately 26 x 21 inches)

Austin Osman Spare (British, 1886-1956) - ' Stealing the Fire from Heaven' lithograph, initialled 'AOS' (not by hand) lower left and dated 1911-2 - Illustration for 'The Book of Pleasure' published in 1913. This lithograph is taken from ‘Form: A Quarterly of the Arts’ published in April 1917, from which it formed the centre pages - the seam can clearly be seen.

A very early print, produced early in the artist’s career.

Beautifully framed in an Edwardian gilded frame. Like the print - the frame has a multitude of imperfections commensurate with age.

This is a large picture with fragile antique glass, so unfortunately it’s not suitable for shipping. The shipping cost that you will be quoted upon checking out is £70 - this will enable me to deliver in person anywhere in England or Wales. You are of course welcome to collect from Ventnor on the Isle of Wight for free. No international opinion is available unfortunately.
